I Think It Might Be...

After our non-boozy ice cream, the three of us walked around a bit and eventually made our way over to the Soho area...
"Ooh!  Look!  It's our hotel in Ireland!"

While wandering, I found somewhere to work, since I never want to leave this place...

Goud thing I already knouw the language!

With a new career in place (I'm sure they'll be calling me back any minute...) we went out to celebrate with, yep--you guessed it--a few drinks at a bar that I think might be gay...

G. A. Y. is one of the biggest gay clubs in London.  We were only going to go for just one drink, but...

"Come on, just one moure drink, Keith!  It'll be fun!"
...things started to get blurry.  Again.

And once again, we wound up being accosted by a group of total weirdos we don't even know.
Seriously...

...that dude is literally biting Keith.   These guys were even stranger than any of the other strangers we've met so far.  And that is not a trend I care to see continue.

...Or....

We All Scream

One of the first things I did when researching London was check with my friend The Urban Grocer, to check out what hip and trendy food she thinks I should put into my face...

...and as always, she was stacked with great (and tasty!) ideas.  One of the places she mentioned is The IceCreamists!

It's sort of a punk rock version of an Ice Cream Shoppe...

Oy!

These are the guys who made a big splash over Breast Milk Ice Cream a few months ago, so I was definitely looking forward to the experience--although I am not man enough to handle the Breast Milk Ice Cream.  (I'm adventurous, but I must draw the line somewhere.  Somehow.  Right?)

The interior of the place is pretty magical...

...and even the bathrooms are full of nonsense:

With the men's room featuring this on the door...

...and the ladies' room adorned thusly:

As seen on the back of the toilet!

But the main attraction, obviously, is the ice cream.  We each ordered a trio of tastes so we could sample them all (aside from the breast milk.  Because, seriously...)  Our orders showed up with sexy black cones atop the delicious creamy dream...

I ordered mine with caramel sauce, because I'm somehow not quite fat enough yet...

...and it was all served in a lovely giant martini glass.

To be fair, after the 12 days of nonstop boozing, I just assumed this was how we do things here.

With each bite, more and more yum entered our mouths...

It was unbelievably tasty...

And we ate as much as we could...

...until one by one...

...we all perished while eating...

Some more than others, clearly.

London Calling...back

After a wee bit of a trouble this morning (courtesy of last night’s shenanigans)  we are now officially back in London for the final leg of our journey.   Of course, there’s every possibility that we will be too stupid to get ourselves home at the end of this mess.

Example:  We hopped a cab get away from the Pee Castle...

Now with Stink Lines!®

Once we got to the airport for our flight back to London, we handed the cabbie our cash and he just stared at us blankly.  I had assumed we had given him pounds instead of euros (or vice versa.  Whatever.)

But that wasn't it at all.  The cabbie told us we owed him eight more pounds.  (or Euros.  Seriously, Europe:  Get it together.)   Turns out we had paid him according to the number on the clock, rather than on the meter.

I fear we drank the very last bit of our common sense away last night.

I also wanted to give a shout out to Ireland’s National Leprechaun Museum, who got a hold of our blog entry about our time there and sent us some love on their Facebook page.   Thanks, guys!  We heart you back!

No. Sleep. Till Scotland.

Here's the thing:

Last night, we did the unthinkable. After a solid week of going to sleep as the sun was rising, we actually managed to pour ourselves into bed around midnight last night.

That being said, we only got about 90 minutes of sleep.

It's not pretty.

Why did we do that?  Because today is Loch Ness day.  And we had to catch a flight out of Dublin at 6AM.  Which means we had to be at the airport at 4AM.  (Yes, I know this is before we've been even going to sleep up until this point...which only adds to the issue.)

To do that, we had to leave the hotel at something called 3:30 in the morning.

And to do THAT...

We had to wake up at 1:30AM.

Seriously.  Not pretty.  Borderline Jizzaster, if you will.

Luckily, we thought ahead and picked up a delicious breakfast buffet to start our morning off right...

O'Ugh.

The point is:  We're in Scotland now.  And you'll hear all about our journey...and Nessie... later.

Until then, we're turning in early.  For realz, yo.

Absinthe-Minded

After the Sad-acombs incident yesterday, Keith went back to the room to try and figure out another way to dispose of our bodies while Bookie and I ventured off to roam the streets of Paris.  This time, he armed us with a map so that we wouldn’t spend nine hours roaming a two block radius.

And so, off we went.  For four hours, we wandered through this city taking in the many sights...

...and wonders that Paris has to offer, I came across this amazing local artisan who designs clocks using old cheese adverts as the face.  Known as Misseur Camembert, he has been making these clocks for a billion years.

Some are just clocks, others are alarms and still others have little hidden treasures and functions…but the cool thing is:  Each one is hand made and completely unique.

The guy was quite charismatic and although he spoke very little English, he was very good about somehow explaining what each of his creations could do.

One featured a sobbing animal on the ad, and when you turned the clock upside down, water drips out, simulating its tears.  As awesome as that is, I opted for something more dry:

This clock's face features a seagull, and when you open it up, you find this homemade mess of crazy:

The gull from the front has found a small baby, and placed it in a nest.  And yes, those are real bits of nesting glued inside.

When you purchase one of these ticking piles of awesome, he signs, dates...

...and numbers them:

I have no idea what the numbering system means, but I assume it’s veryimportant.  And it helps sell the fact that each clock is truly one of a kind.

The guy is a mad genius who randomly wanders around the city selling his wares, so it was quite fortuitous that I ran into him at all.

As the day wore on and I reflected on just how happy he seemed, I decided I needed to pick up some more of these wonders—and perhaps leave my career in reality television and convince him to let me become his apprentice and eventual successor—but alas, later when we returned to the cobblestone strip where he had been selling, he was gone.  C’est la vie.

On our way back to the hotel, one of the things that struck me about Paris was how much there is to do everywhere you go:

Lé Statue Dé Secrette:  If you give him your secrets, he will devour them.  And you.

As an aside, this place is great.

This restaurant is fantastic based on name alone.

Once we returned to the Paris Hilton (Seriously.  We were in the Paris Hilton.  I may need a medic...) we regrouped and headed back to the Eiffel Tower.

The first time we were there yesterday was super fun…

 The French boys love me.

…but I wasn’t really ready for the scope of the beauty of the tower during sunset.

As you read in Keith’s post, I perished a bit on the billionth floor, but we still had a chance to watch the sun set over Paris, and it was fantastic.

Later, the three of us headed back to our ótel for that dreaded “Just One Drink.”  This time, we decided to go easy, since we had to pack and get on a plane to Dublin the next morning.

And yet, when it came time to order, we got three “Retro Zombies” at the hotel bar.  These cocktails were allegedly made famous during the 1939 World’s Fair in NYC.  Not very French, but my grandparents went on their honeymoon there, so I thought it’d be a cool thing to have.

Or.....

Here's the thing:  If my grandma had one of these things on her wedding night, neither my mother nor I would even be in existence, because everything both inside of you and within a three lé pew radius either stops functioning or melts altogether.

The beverage consisted of four or five different types of liquor, to which a serving of flaming absinthe was added…

After the first sip…

Before...

After

…things go from bad to worse…

The camera is perfectly in focus.  I, however, am perishing.

..and eventually, go from worse to Euro-blam…

Once things like this began to happen....

Artist's rendition of what Jeff & Keith could see after a half a glass of this nightmare.

...we bolted back to our room in a failed attempt to get more than a half a second of sleep before flying off to Dublin!  O'Lord.
