Brighton Beach Memoirs...or Something

This may come as a big surprise but we were a little slow moving this morning and quite possibly still drunk. Getting Jeff and Adam moving was sort of like herding cats. Eventually we did make it to the train station and onto the train to Brighton.

Needless to say we were all a little tired and possibly cranky...

Adam felt better after his nice healthy breakfast of a bucket of coffee, tangy diorites and a Cadbury twirl bar, breakfast of champions! I was super excited to go to Brighton because I did my study abroad year here...

We got to Brighton with no hassle, well except Adam kept asking if we were in the chunnel yet and Jeff kept pointing to everything and asking if it was the Eiffel Tower, idiots!!

We hopped in a cab which freaked them both out because it was there first time driving on the other side of the road, and we had the best cabby ever because when Adam said "this is freaking me out, it's the first time I've been in a car!", the cabby replied with "ever?"

Clearly this driver must have thought we were all nuts or maybe Nell, you know that Jodie Foster movie. Anyhoo, we arrived at out lovely hotel by the water...

This place is made up of equal parts cute and totally crazy! We were booked into the "family boudoir room", yes that's right...

See it even says it on the keys...

This is for Mom and Dad style boudoir fun I guess, but Bookie and I took this room, no oohing Bookie!

And this is the other room, where we chucked Jeff because he shores like a wild animal...

Ad speaking of animals I'm not sure what to make of the feathers. After exploring our new abode we went for a walk to the pier...

Aww Brighton Pier...

Oh how I've missed you...

Jeff was getting handsy with this fine lass...

Then we hit up the Arcade, I tried my hand at Deal or No Deal...

Things looked promising at first...

And then quickly went downhill...

I got 3 tickets which I think is the equivalent of spelling your name right on the SAT test, whomp whomp.

Then we saw this super crazy thing...

It was half way through the day and we hadn't done anything too stupid, well we decided to fix that...

Jeff and I were too scared to do it solo so we held hands and did it together. If I'm goin I'm takin someone with me...

And holy crap it hurt, my hands are still vibrating from it...

So of course we made Adam do it by himself...

I think it hurts more with one person...

You're doin great buddy!!

We strolled around the seafront a little bit more...

I don't know why this picture makes me crack up, it was some disco ball are thing, but I think it works better this way...

After the pier we wandered around in the Lanes, it's a shopping area in town and grabbed a bite to eat...

It was also about 3 degrees in town, or 3 kilograms according to Jeff...

Mmm Guiness in a fancy mug...

And for those you who think that things over here don't have a U in them SEE!!! Now it's food oclock before we head off to meet some of my old room mates and then it is off to Paris tomorrow!

On a sie note, Jeff thinks that this is how you get to Paris! IDIOT!!!

One More Drink... A phouto essay

Sourry for the late nature of this poust.  Last night (sunday) was a little rough.

After our brilliant cruise taking in the sights along the Thames...

Stabbey Road Trip Factoid:  This is where they take London Bridge for repairs after it falls down!

...Keith suggested we head back to the hotel for an early night.  I figured, "Well, it's our second evening in London... why not just go out for one more drink?"

And I meant it.

I really did.

One.  More.  Drink.

It started out innocently enough...

...Keith didn't even really want to drink, but we somehow managed to convince him.

"DRIIIINK IIIIIIT!"

Of course, one drink turned into two....

"DRIIIIIINK IIIIIT, I SAID!!!"

...which was fine for a minute....

...until it wasn't anymore.  We left the first bar to go and check out what else was happening in the neighborhood.   Some club promoter found us and took us to this place...

...thinking we would enjoy a big, horrible straight club.

He was mistaken.

We had just one drink there before running outside to find "just one more place" to have "one more drink."  On our way, Keith got stopped by two guys who were maybe a little handsy.

Keith looked over to Bookie for some support, but...

...well, Bookie was busy laughing at the situation.  I would have helped, but I don't like to get involved in these scenes;  I'm just there to document it like any true filmmaker/writer/hack reality TV producer.

Eventually, Keith broke free of the creepos and we went to some other bar, which involved some terrible stairs...

Too late!
Here, we found some other creepos...

...and more creepos found us. . .
Do you know this girl?  Because I don't.

London's Conan O'Brien:  Counan Ou'Briun!  (U)

..and that's when things started to get a little fuzzy...

 ...and dark...

Eventually, we somehow found our way back to the hotel, which, for the record, is not located anywhere near here:

We called Jon for a bit, although I was out of my mind by this point.  Oh, and the sun was coming up...you know, because it was five in the morning.

F'd.

Luckily, along the way, we picked up this piece of advice from one of the bars:

#3 says "Fall into the canal."  I think I just might.

See you in the Thames!  Right-o, then!  Pip, pip!

Yes, We're Idiots

As Jeff pointed out yesterday, he and I were on an adventure to look for a jacket for our fancy dinner cruise while Keith took a nice and relaxing nap.

What was supposed to be a 15-20 minute search turned into one which lasted for hours.  As we kept walking looking for a store which had something we were interested in buying, we realized we were walking further and further away from the houtel.

So after our nice and fancy dinner cruise on the Thames, Jeff suggested we go out for "just one drink."  Well here's the thing about that.  There is no such thing as "just one drink."  As we were making our way to Soho to hit some bars, lead by Keith, Jeff and I realized we were passing the entire area we were walking around earlier in the day looking for stores.

So yea, turns out when we were "lost" for hours, we were no more than 5 blocks away from the hotel.  In our defense, the streets of London are not an easy grid like most cities in the U.S.

This goes to show whenever Jeff and I are together, it's always a mess.

We really are American Idiots.

Guilty Feet Have Got On Rhythm!

After my lovely nap we started getting ready for my birthday surprise, that is no longer a surprise because Jeff told me, dinner cruise thing. But then a thing happened, as it always seems to happen with us.

Jeff told me "oh where are your fancy shoes because this place has a dress code. WHAT!?! I was not told there was a dress code and I only brought one pair of shoes and they are cute but not fancy...

It apparently explicitly says on the website that they will turn you away if you are in sneakers!! Jeff insisted that he told me (which he didn't) and then he also realized that he didn't tell me, ya we are F'ed! Birthday ruined!!

Oh and a little back story about the title of the post, Jeff was drunk one night and tried to tell me that Careless Whisper by George Michael was playing, except when he told me he said drunkenly "guilty feet have got on rhythm" instead of "guilty feet have got no rhythm". Thus a bit was born!

And seeing as I had guilty feet tonight it made sense for this post. Our plan was for Jeff and Adam to distract the people when we got to the boat and I would sneak by, oh ya this isn't going to end well...

So we head down to the Embankment Pier, I was in charge of directions since Jeff and Adam are still lost...

And we got to the boat and the plan was in motion!!! And to our absolute amazement...

It worked!!! They let the deviants and the shlubby guy on the boat! And to make it even more amazing, and i kid you not but the first song playing when we got on the boat was a muzac version of Careless Whisper!!!

It was beautiful, riding down the Thames at sunset...

We got to see a lot of the sights along the river...

Ooh Big Ben, Parliament...

And Tower Bridge...

And dinner was amazing! I had Sea Bass with some sort of sauce, it was delicious...

Oh and did I mention the meal included unlimited wines, oh God! This was an amazing birthday dinner, but we were all a little sad that Jon couldn't be here with us, so we did a toast to Jon (gurl, that is your white wine, drink up!).

They even had a band playing music, I might have been a wee buzzed and singing...

So was Jeff! Adam was less than amused...did I mention unlimited wine?

All in all an amazing birthday. I'm ready to go to bed, but Jeff just said "let's go out for 1 drink!"

Why do I smell a vagaster brewing, oh God! Cheers!!
